Investing Turned Into a Science
TIFIN Personality is a scientifically-backed financial personality assessment for investing.
Developed by Harvard, M.I.T., and Wharton academics who spent decades testing different ways to bridge positive psychology, modern wealth management, and technology, TIFIN Personality aims to change how people connect to finance and investing.
Together, our team has pioneered a new approach to helping people discover their financial happiness.

Our Four Pillar Financial Personality Framework
Every element of the assessment is based on scientific discovery to draw the strongest positive connection between an investor and their investments.

Touch investors have a strong desire for meaningful relationships. Touch is all about the how, why and what of relationships interacting with investors.

Security investors believe it’s important to know they have enough invested to meet their goals and that their financial future is well taken care of.

Purpose Investors place significant importance on meaning. Investing is not just about returns, but also a big way they can have a positive impact on the world around them.

Viewpoint Investors see investing as a way to satisfy and test their natural intellectual curiosity. They often have a desire to express their world views through their investments.
The What and Why of Positive Psychology
“Positive psychology is the scientific study of what makes life most worth living” – Christopher Peterson
Positive psychology takes a scientific approach to studying human thoughts, feelings, and behavior, with a focus on strengths instead of weaknesses and building the good instead of repairing the bad. Studies prove that when humans take an approach-based mindset versus an avoidance mindset, it helps people better achieve their goals. It asks the question, “What are you driving toward” versus “What are you avoiding?”
The SPIRE model of positive psychology boils down the different dimensions that contribute to happiness and wellbeing.
Spiritual wellbeing: Meaning and what you most value
Physical wellbeing: Health and vitality of your body
Intellectual wellbeing: Creativity and learning new things
Relational wellbeing: The harmony and support of your relationships
Emotional wellbeing: Feelings and attitudes
Much of investing has historically been driven by what people do not want to invest in. We believe that in order to help people be happier, the focus should shift to where they want to invest. Our four financial personality traits (Purpose, Security, Touch, Viewpoint) encompass these different dimensions to help people understand what approach to their finances will help them feel more fulfilled.
